Nell’attesissimo arco narrativo “The Last Avenger”, il compito di Captain Marvel, alter ego di Carol Danvers, è piuttosto chiaro: uccidere i colleghi supereroi. Benché non sia ancora stato rivelato il motivo, né quali losche alleanze si celino dietro a questo eccesso di malvagità, il futuro di Captain Marvel appare oscuro e incerto. Nel volume Captain Marvel #13, scritto da Kelly Thompson e illustrato da Lee Garbett, Carol riuscirà a uccidere un supereroe. E non è detto che sia l’ultimo.
La descrizione ufficiale conferma quanto appena detto: “Un Avenger è morto per mano di Capitan Marvel. Chi sarà il prossimo? E perché? Cosa ha spinto Capitan Marvel a passare al lato oscuro?” Purtroppo non ci è ancora dato saperlo.

In un’intervista con Matthew Aguilar del sito Comicbook, la scrittrice Kelly Thompson (Jessica Jones, Hawkeye, Rogue & Gambit) ha parlato di ciò a cui assisteranno i lettori nel corso dell’attesissimo The Last Avenger. Ha affermato: “Carol is an incredibly powerful character and you can really push her to the furthest edge and you sort of need to in order to keep things interesting, and that’s what we’re trying to do with The Last Avenger. I think it’s going to be a terrific Carol story that really highlights her strengths as a character – and maybe some weaknesses as well. Issue 12 is unlike any script I’ve written for Marvel before and unlike any Carol story I’ve ever read. It’s a little risky but I’m excited. I hope people love it.”
